Who can join?
Any individual irrespective of their ethnic and cultural background is welcome to join. The one thing we all share in common is our love for Jesus! There are however, certain qualifications that you must have to become a member. They are as follows:
Ready to sign up? Make sure you first read the requirements
1. Born Again
Jesus said, “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). The most important decision you’ll ever make in life is receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior – not becoming a member of a church. Therefore, we will not accept a person into membership who is unsaved.
2. Water Baptism
All born again Christians should be water baptized. We don’t make this a requirement for membership. However, if you haven’t been baptized as a believer, we strongly encourage you to do so.
3. Baptism with the Holy Spirit
We want all believers to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4). Although this isn’t a requirement for membership, we believe that every Christian should have this experience.
Membership signifies commitment. To be a member, you must consider Spirit of Faith to be your home church. If you are already a member of another church we require you to notify them that you are transferring your membership to SFC.
5. You must be 18 years old
We want all our members to take their responsibility of being a member seriously, so, we require you to be at least 18 years of age. We also require anyone who is under 21 to get a signed letter of no objection from your parents or legal guardians. We do not want your parents to be uninformed. And we also want to make sure that all matters are cleared before you officially join the church family.
What is expected of members?
We expect all our members to attend Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday night services.
The Word of God commands us to tithe. The tithe is 10% of all our increase, which we give to God for the work of the ministry. We expect all our church members to tithe faithfully.
3. Live right
None of us are perfect. And our God is merciful and forgives us when we sin. However, we expect all our members to be serious about living a pure and godly life. This would include abstaining from alcohol, illegal drugs and sexual immorality. And all of us should walk in love towards others.
How do I join?
Our membership class, called Join!, is held in the church several times throughout the year. This class is mandatory for all individuals who desire to be a member of Spirit of Faith Church. Attending the class does not make you a member and it does not obligate you to be a member.
2. Submit the Form & Keep Coming
After we receive a completed filled application form online (see below), we ask that you continue to regularly attend church services. We’d like to be certain that you will faithfully attend church before you become a member.
3. Interview & Recognition
The church office staff will telephone you to ask a few questions and get to know you better. Then you will be asked to be present for “Membership Sunday,” when new members are officially recognized.
Dismissal & Rejoining
We annually updates our membership list. Those who have not regularly attended church services, or who no longer meet the requirements for membership, may be dismissed. Those who have been dismissed may rejoin the church by submitting a written petition.
